we need more sybil resistance article , to know how does this take place
i think Sybill attacks make a major problem and need some filters in process but kvc could not be a good idea .by the way appreciate your day and night hard work
of Sybil resistance or Gyro in general?
The old traditional KYC is always the one that comes to mind first when we think about Sybil resistance and protecting projects from attacks. But, in fact, it is the hardest way for people of a community to prove their benevolence, and more importantly, this action overshadows the trust that a community should have. On other hand, Gyroscope is a modern solution to an old problem, so why would it use the old way of KYC?
I personally suggest the accounts links. Like Twitter, Discord and Facebook because of its freedom and easy-to-do tasks.
It’s no secret that people in the crypto space do not like KYC. It’s a no-go for most cryptoers. Having a connection to social accounts might help preventing these kinds of sybil attacks.
there should be limitation on number of accounts, in a way not to affect system performance verification as well as stopping hunters.
what is the final conclusion of how gyro would be tackling sybil resistance
its not clear yet. I future they will disccus more about it.
Cool post but people will always find ways to go around, during the ICO bubble people where cheating the game by buying others people KYCs…
Also let’s remember that Ribbon’s first issue was that the team leaked infos to their private investors, allowing them to cheat “the game” completely…
So yeah probably one of the most important thing is to have a trustworthy team who realize that if they rig their own launch, they’re gonna hurt badly the reputation of their own project.
For me this is more important than forcing a KYC on everyone (which could be cheated too BTW, you can buy IDs or even KYCs as a whole if the checkup is more complex…).
we need to consider Github accounts and twitter accounts that are they have any real impression or not?
i believe you will do the best
providing active social media links would be fine, or a combination of several solutions. traditional KYC is not the way, it speaks for itself ‘traditional’ ! gyro is not anything near to traditional.
well in my opinion the most practical way that you really can filter out airdrop hunters is KYC but if you ask me it’s not that compatible with the purpose of decentralization. but if you limit each address to the twitter account specially accounts that are semi old like older than i don’t know a year or 2 i think it can filter out most of the the hunters.
I think the best way to reduce this resistance is that you use a service that help you to Identify and confirm Web.3 identity of individuals.
It would be great if it was possible to provide such a service in a decentralized way so that the ideal rules of blockchain would not be questioned.
Glad we have a strong community!
this is an important subject, but kyc? no there is more difficulty in KYC process.
It will be hard to find them
How about something like this?
-
Twitter - active or old accounts?
-
Github - accounts with some history (commits, repositories) or profiles created long ago,
-
Phone number - probably the easiest way because in many countries sim card must be registered aka “mandatory registration and identification of all mobile phone users purchasing a pre-paid SIM card”.
Great! It’s time inside!
